Young Medical Doctor (MD) was founded in 2016 by Dr. Lerato Khatle and aims to restore function (sustainable medical care) in the South African healthcare sector through innovation applicable to both Human resources and healthcare systems involved in the delivery of healthcare, with a special interest in public healthcare.
Young MD’s Moto is “Dare to be great” – a clarion call, challenge and encouragement to all clinicians, to no longer be victims of a challenging healthcare system but pioneers of its transformation.

Young MD Goal
Young MD hopes to empower doctors (especially the junior doctors) to be able to “tell a different story”, about their experience in the South African public health sector. As Young MD transforms their experience, we also aim be the driving force for the successful retainment of the doctor, as a sustainable
resource in the public sector, beyond the compulsory years of service.
